Department Overview

Position Summary

Oversees construction and improvement projects in the transmissionsystem. Identifies contract worthy projects, consults on projectfeasibility and project site details, coordinates with constructioncrews, oversees project inspectors, and on a project specific basisperforms construction oversight. Prepares job packages and constructionestimates, conducts job walks, and meets with bidders, contractors, andgoverning agencies. Ensures projects are completed per companystandards, engineering design, regulatory guidelines, permits andschedule.

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as a subject matter expert in area of field and applies extensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Ensures all estimates from multiple areas are performed to standards and meet efficiency and accuracy measures within unit costs.
  • Performs field visits as applicable based on the field condition and/or any issues with the information provided from the field.
  • Coordinates and leads activities in support of inspections or audits.
  • Manages daily work activities; reviews and approves priorities and work products.
  • Manages the portfolio of assigned projects and ensures all projects are designed safely and constructed on time, on budget, on scope, and without adverse environmental or regulatory impacts.
  • Maintains public and employee safety on site at all times by promoting a positive safety culture, exhibiting an absolute commitment to safety for self and others, and by ensuring all applicable safety rules, regulations and standards are followed.
  • Acts as a first point of contact for multiple internal and external clients, and consults with more senior engineers on more difficult issues while ensuring critical needs are met quickly and efficiently.
  • Obtains commitment on detailed work plans including schedule, cost, resources, contingency and communication plans.
  • Provides operational input on daily plant planning and scheduling (e.g., work packages, project schedules and resource loading).
  • Qualifications

    Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Construction or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 7 years
  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent of working time
  • Desired:

  • Experience in gas transmission
  • Experience in contract administration
  • Experience in engineering, industrial, or related, 9 years
  • Experience in quality control, contracts
  • Experience with project planning tools such as MS-Microsoft Project or Primavera
  • Experience in contract administration, job-related
