Department Overview

The Information Security organization is led by PG&E’s Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer and is responsible for cybersecurity, physical security, and IT Governance and Compliance across the enterprise.

The Security Intelligence and Operations Center (SIOC) is responsible for ensuring that PG&E proactively identifies and assesses threats to its network and data, monitors its network for malicious activity, investigates intrusions and other relevant events, and has a sophisticated and detailed understanding of the evolving threat landscape.

Position Summary

The successful candidate for this role will need to possess highly specialized skills that combine in-depth knowledge of scanning OT Grid systems, cyber security tools, and operational knowledge of a Data Security Program Office.

This role will deliver critical information security services supporting PG&E's enterprise security goals and objectives by utilizing a set of highly specialized tools and processes to provide those information security services.  Additionally, the role is responsible for designing improvised solutions in real time when dealing with active threats, produce metrics and statistics that feed complimentary processes in PG&E such as risk assessment, patching, anti-virus, firewall management, etc.

The role is classified as hybrid, working primarily from your home office with occasional visits to the SIOC in Concord as business needs require.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform security assessments and work in Data governance programs utilizing Collibra and other data governance tools 
  • Co-ordinating and collaborating with IT & other enterprise-wide teams as required to help identify and protect sensitive data as well as tracking metrics 
  • Perform a key role in establishing and strengthening an enterprise data governance implementation 
    • Improve the quality and protection of sensitive data
    • Respond to regulatory protection requirements 
    • Understand privacy laws and regulations (ex. CCPA)
    • Experience in an organization with large-scale data and oversight 
    • Become the liaison between multiple lines of business, groups and stakeholders involved in the data security program
    • Ability to develop constructing working relationships and manage challenging situations 
  • Performing data analysis and analyzing data from multiple sources to generate reports
  • Working closely with technical teams to consolidate information in tracking sheets
  • Updating metrics data and populate dashboards
  • Supporting team on analyzing risks, gather audit information, follow-up on remediations and tracking data governance metrics
  • Support team on security assessments on sensitive and restricted data in structured repositories
  • Document findings and implement remediations as part of Data Security Program
  • Maintain Data Inventory on Collibra or Excel tools
  • Collaborate with internal PG&E teams, stakeholders, working groups and vendors in implementing remediations

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High school or GED
  • 6 years of related work experience

Desired:

  • Deep knowledge of data security, encryption, data privacy standards, confidentiality classification, password practices, user authentication, data security audit, data quality requirements specifications, data quality profiling and analysis, structured and unstructured data management
  • Established connections within intelligence community and ability to leverage those connections at PG&E
  • Expert in MS Excel, pivot tables, and dashboards
  • Ability to resolves the most complex problems and works with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to apply creativity or new approaches to technical assignments
  • Information Security Certification
