Position Summary:
Prepare and deliver technical training, evaluate and report out on student progress and success. Maintain subject matter expertise and industry knowledge and participate in curriculum development to deliver the best training possible. Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION: Deliver course curriculum to students in classroom and simulated field environment. Prepares lesson plans from engineering/technical documentation, field service requirements or other documentation Coaches and mentors to build student technical understanding, skills, expertise and confidence.
- STUDENT EVALUATION & RECORD KEEPING: Tests and monitors student knowledge and understanding. Evaluates student performance in alignment with program goals and objectives and provides feedback and reports to clients on performance and progress. Maintains training records and files.
- CURRICULUM DESIGN: Work with curriculum development team to revise and improve curriculum to maximize results vs. program goals and objectives.
RESEARCH & CONTINUOUSIMPROVEMENT: Reads, interprets and applies technical standards in accordance with company policies and procedures. Communicates with industry technical experts for continuous improvement. Identifies any gaps in existing policies, procedures and work practices vs. company policies, updates in industry standards and regulatory changes. Communicates updates to business unit program owners. Maintain subject matter expertise through research.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
Disclosure:
PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.
The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Pay Range:
- Minimum: $128,000.
- Midpoint: $173,000.
- Maximum: $218,000.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate all job responsibilities of an expert instructor.
- Drive safety strategy with a focus on improving safety culture.
- Responsible for instructor development within their work group and across the academy.
- Instrumental in managing facility project improvements, maintenance, and new implementations.
- Represent the academy in SME discussions at client meetings.
- Provide quality review checks and on-the-job instructor coaching.
- Identify Level 3 validation opportunities (measure classroom to field application)
- Lead discussions around best practices, continuous improvement, and industry trends. Lead the implementation of these practices.
- Lead projects aimed at the development of critical new tools and techniques that requires cross functional coordination.
- May provide coverage for the Supervisor, as needed for out of office coverage.
Initiate interactions with the curriculum design team to improve the curriculum design and improve learning effectiveness
Qualifications:
Minimum:
High School Diploma or GED
Must obtain PG&E internal training certification requirement within 12 months of job start date
- 8 years related job experience in respective trade
- 5 years’ training experience
Mastery of skillset in which training will be delivered
Desired:
College degree in engineering or technical discipline
- 15 years’ experience in respective journey-level trade
- 10 years previous adult teaching experience
- Experience collaborating with committees
Served at the Academy as rotational or guest instructor.
- Understanding of curriculum development processes
- Ability to provide technical leadership within the department.
- Demonstrated thought leader involved in strategic direction of Technical Training department.
- Ability to coach and mentor other instructors.
- Possess and utilize process improvement and project management skills
- Possess and utilize change management skills
- Ability to influence cross functional teams and management within the department and across PG&E
- High learning agility to learn, master and teach technical courses in a short amount of time
Ability to demonstrate/perform the work per the job standards and procedures
