Department Overview 

PG&E is transitioning to a new way of managing change: forming an Enterprise Change Office that will dedicate change resources to its highest priority activities. The main goal of the ECO will be to adopt and sustain changes that will cause PG&E to realize its new future (True North Strategy). This approach will require PG&E leaders to inspire change and coworkers to become clear owners of the business.  

To achieve its vision, the ECO has defined four primary objectives:  

  • Embed Enterprise Change Capabilities across PG&E.
  • Develop an actionable, enterprise-wide view of change adoption using risk assessments and coworker pulse checks 
  • Orient resources to the highest impact change by prioritizing efforts that support True North Strategy initiatives  
  • Adopt a consistent change management approach with training and tools that support all coworkers 

As the ECO continues to evolve, we will drive successful change outcomes through PG&E leaders and coworkers drive change within their teams. 

Position Summary

This position provides change management support and expertise for enterprise-wide change efforts across PG&E. The scope of this position includes developing complex change management approaches, plans, and tactics for large and complex (transformational) initiatives that will have an enterprise-wide impact, using the PG&E Change Management playbook as a guide. The successful candidate will navigate the organization and understand complex inter-relationships of various groups, operations, systems and/or processes to be able to identify risks, impacts and strategies that will help drive change management strategy and plans. 

Additionally, the position will be required to provide guidance and coaching of other change management consultants and business leads, oversight on critical and major change interventions, and be able to communicate risks and strategies at the Director / VP level. 

This position is classified as a hybrid work type. The successful candidate should generally plan to work in office 0-3 days per week, on average, and may be asked to occasionally work from either the Oakland General Office or San Ramon as business needs require.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum:      $​105,000

Bay Area Maximum:     $​169,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops / refines initiative strategy for Change Management 
  • Identify key stakeholders and create effective partnerships to ensure success of program 
  • Manages relationships with complex set of stakeholder groups and develops effective methods for forming partnerships to ensure change adoption and enterprise initiative success.  
  • Develops and implements strategies for engaging and educating program leadership, initiative teams, and other key stakeholders on change management
  • Assesses for people related risks and develops plans and actions to mitigate risks and address concerns 
  • Coordinates closely with the Change Strategy Director to ensure that change best practices are being followed, make recommendations to the Change Management Playbook

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years change management experience on large scale change projects including large technology deployments
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and training others

Desired:

  • Graduate Degree in organizational development, organizational behavior, or related field preferred
  • Expertise in leadership development and change sponsorship preferred 
  • Ability to lead a change effort and articulate change leadership approaches, strategies and plans to initiative team, sponsor, and key stakeholders  
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written
  • Strong judgment and decision-making
  • Strong process orientation—ability to handle many tasks 
  • Thrives in ambiguous environments filled with change 
  • High degree of emotional intelligence – including ability to interact, collaborate, and influence at the executive level 
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PG&E business, technology, policy and industry trends
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and provide respectful feedback 
  • Completion of 21 hours of instructor-led change management training in a change methodology aligned with the ACMP Standard
