Position Summary

The Vegetation Program Manager supports Vegetation Management operations, ensuring electric system safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance with state and federal rules. The incumbent may also serve as a subject matter expert and provide guidance and education or influence leaders in the industry (PG&E, other utilities, or other decision makers) on regulatory issues and program strategies. Supports the Vegetation Management team by improving and overseeing internal processes. Works with customers and public entities to monitor and manage vegetation proximity to PG&E assets to contribute to system reliability and safety objectives.

This position offers a flexible work location within the PG&E service territory. The successful candidate will be expected to attend in-person meetings at our Oakland General Office 1 - 2 times every two weeks.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.  

A reasonable salary range is:​
Bay Area Minimum: $118,000
Bay Area Maximum: $​188,000
&/OR​
California Minimum: $112,000
California Maximum: $179,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and oversees vegetation management program operations
  • Works independently on highly complex issues. Applying advanced knowledge and problem-solving skills to wide-ranging issues. Integrates industry knowledge related to data into everyday business practices and decision making
  • Works independently to take new perspectives on existing solutions, plans, and goals, providing feedback for and leading continuous improvement
  • Manages or directs project teams
  • Provides direction on assigned program plan and goals
  • Leads process development and standardization for VM programs, as well as acting as an owner and SME for assigned program
  • Oversees in-depth quality assurance final reviews and contract drafts
  • Works with managers and directors across lines of business to influence decisions and meet goals
  • Communicates complex ideas to diverse audiences (PG&E, other utilities, public entities, community organizations, etc.) using a variety of media
  • Provides guidance to lesser qualified PM’s and various contractors · Creates, analyzes, and presents new and complex data models to facilitate business decisions
  • May potentially manage emergency work, for example, for severe storms, wildfires, and power shutoff events · Reports out, provides updates and corrective actions, and holds daily huddles under the Lean Management model
  • May oversee vegetation management safety investigations and corrective action plans
  • Influences leaders inside and outside the department, and among various local and state regulatory agencies (for example, CPUC Fire Safety OIR, Public Resource Code Major Wood Exemption)
  • Participates in public hearings, legal proceedings or similar as a subject matter expert
  • Develops budget forecasts and business cases. Conducts analysis in support of identifying budget variances and solutions to address
  • Develops new and ad-hoc reports, summarizes findings, and provides recommendations

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 6 years

Desired:

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience
  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
  • ISA-International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Utility Specialist certification
  • Registered Professional Forester license
  • ISA-International Society of Arboriculture Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
