Department Overview

PG&E’s Strategy team leads the development and facilitation of True North Strategy, co-creates and supports strategy and policy initiatives related to Energy System Strategies, leads Competitive Strategy workstreams, and incubates emerging business opportunities. With PG&E’s core values of serving our planet and delivering for our hometowns at heart, the team assesses cross-functional and line of business-specific industry trends and opportunities, provides internal consulting to support line of business strategy development and performance improvement, and leads high-profile utility initiatives.

Position Summary

The Supervisor, Special Projects will oversee the development of one or more strategic initiatives, with an initial focus on development and implementation of PG&E’s process to develop and apply for federal and state grant funding opportunities. This Supervisor will work cross-functionally across multiple PG&E departments, and engage externally with policymakers, NGOs, and local elected leaders to develop projects that will be eligible for grants from the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), as well as other emerging funding opportunities. The Supervisor may also lead new strategic initiatives as they emerge.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of new strategic opportunities and develops processes and frameworks for organizing Company responses.
  • Partners with stakeholders across the organization to gather information about how PG&E can create value from new federal and state funding opportunities. Lead concept paper facilitation and submission; oversee grant writing development to meet application deadlines.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to identify and engage with external partners.
  • Incorporates market, industry, technology, and policy trends into the development of new processes and initiatives.
  • Prepares periodic updates for officers and directors on initiative progress.
  • Manages consulting contracts for grant writing and facilitation.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 4 years
  • Leadership experience

Desired:

  • Master’s Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Utility industry experience
  • Experience in consulting or grant-writing
