PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Oversees civil, electrical and mechanical engineering services for all powerhouses, switchyards, dams, water conveyance systems and appurtenant facilities throughout the Shasta Watersheds. Manages and supports the development of standards for Power Generation as requested, including those necessary for maintaining and managing engineering drawings.
-Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
-PE-Professional Engineer license

-Knowledge of power generating facility systems, structures, components, principles, and theories as needed to perform at the job level
-High level of familiarity with ESC contract

-Oversees complex engineering analyses.
-Ensures completion of all pre-work for environmental reviews and permits, and other agency reviews and approvals.
-Develops, evaluates and supports systems and processes to support PG&E's objectives for compliance with NERC/WECC/CAISO.
-Ensures work in group is carried out using established processes, practices and procedures as directed.
-Monitors metrics and develops processes/procedures to improve safety.
-Supports department long-term direction, operating plans, budgets and performance metrics.
-Supports the development of technical portions of services and construction contracts.
-Provides technical expertise, guidance, and support regarding safety design reviews, engineering, condition assessments, inspections, and large-scale construction projects.
-Ensures compliance with existing & new FERC licenses.
-Oversees development of technical sections of bid proposals for projects.
-Provides effective leadership, coaching and development of employees through the goal setting and performance evaluation process, development planning process, and providing frequent open and honest feedback.
-Maintains a safe office working environment.
-Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and rewards and recognition.
-Supports the solving of complex problems by developing and utilizing new and innovative engineering design and technical solutions.
-Develops, implements, and approves guidelines and process documentation.
-Ensure compliance with ESC contract.
-Provides leadership role in managing engineering drawings and documents to ensure compliance with Company policies, standards and procedures.
-Coordinates with other engineering groups within Power Generation and PG&E to maximize efficiencies.
