Position Summary

PG&E is seeking an Agile Coach, Expert to drive the Agile transformation across the organization by leveraging such frameworks including Scaled Agile (SAFe), Scrum and Kanban. This person will drive organizational agility using strong Agile delivery knowledge, Agile life cycle management tools and experience working with multiple teams to coach, mentor and facilitate the adoption of an Agile mindset. This member will serve on the Lean Agile Center of Excellence and will consult on standing up Communities of Practice, development of key metrics, and communications. As the Agile function matures, there will be a need to deliver SAFe training such as SAFe 101, Leading SAFe, SAFe for Teams and other courses to help ready Agile Release Trains.


  • Coach Teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), and leaders on how to effectively apply Agile values, principles and practices (feature writing workshops, backlog grooming, scrum of scrums, retrospectives, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities for teams to improve their agility and application of Agile values and principles to help accelerate the delivery of value which will include creating a growth plan to improve knowledge or skills
  • Define and measure meaningful Agile metrics including Team Health and Maturity, Delivery and Performance and Business Outcomes that show the progress
  • Guide cadence and synchronization at the Team Level to improve effectiveness of progress towards the iteration goals in daily stand-up meetings and the ability to demonstrate working systems at the end of the iteration
  • Establish Communities of Practice and grow existing employee development programs that support employee onboarding, knowledge transfer, employee development and leadership development as it pertains to Agile roles
  • Develop the implementation plan and help manage the transformation backlog.
  • Implement Lean-Agile focus days with guest speakers, and present internal case studies benchmarking and connecting with the external community
  • Facilitate Value Stream Identification Workshops and helping define and launch Agile Release Trains (ARTs)
  • Conduct training for executives, managers and leaders, development teams, and specialty roles such as Product Owner, Product Manager, Scrum Master and Release Train Engineer

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Technical Competencies Desired:

  • Hands on experience coaching Agile teams including experience as a Scrum Master
  • Knowledge of Agile software development principles, values, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level
  • Competency in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, inside and outside the organization
  • Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
  • Competency in building self-organizing teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve iteration goals towards meeting Program Increment Objectives
  • Ability to challenge people in order to lead a transformational change within a large and complex organization
  • Knowledge of the SAFe methodology, practices and tools to support an implementation



  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in related field
  • 7 years of related work experience


  • SAFe Practitioner Consultant (SPC) and/or SAFe Practitioner (SP)
  • 5 years of experience as an Agile Coach
