Job Summary:

The Insurance Specialist, Principal provides expertise in all manner of insurance products and structures and works to renew PG&E’s various insurance programs including: general liability, property, directors and officers liability, aviation, and others. The position is also responsible for coordinating and pursuing insurance claim recoveries, acting as a point of contact with PG&E’s insurance brokers, responding to data requests, and acting as an internal subject matter expert on insurance items to support the lines of business.

The ideal candidate will have excellent consulting, verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and quantitative skills, contracting experience, a background in insurance or risk management, poise in working with many levels of staff, strong organizational and planning skills, and strong interpersonal skills. The position reports to the Manager of Insurance.

Job Responsibilities:

•             Manages PG&E’s insurance renewals by evaluating insurance products and services, understanding sources of risk, developing proposals on insurance selections, and compiling data from multiple sources for insurance                 applications

•             Coordination of insurance claim recoveries in partnership with lines of business

•             Supports lines of business in decisions regarding types and levels of insurance required in vendor contracts

•             Prepares certificates of insurance, and third-party insurance certificate tracking

•             Provides responses to data requests as it relates to PG&E insurance programs through various sources (lines of business inquiries, regulatory filings, other)

•             Process improvement, develop guidance documentation and maintain records database

•             Potential travel required (5% maximum): underwriter tours, site visits

Qualifications

Minimum:

•             Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related discipline

•             Requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in insurance or risk management

Desired:

•             Experience with insurance placements in domestic and international markets

•             Experience with large insurance claims

•             Experience with utility industry mutual insurance companies (AEGIS, EIM)
