Department Overview
The Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk Management (EORM) organization is responsible for enabling the business to effectively manage risk in key areas of the enterprise. EORM organization is charged with overseeing all operational risk management related to PG&E’s operations and public safety including evaluating risks associated with wildfires, nuclear, dams, natural gas, cyberattacks and natural disasters.

Position Summary

This position will serve as Analysis and Modeling Risk Analyst, Senior, in the EORM department.  This position reports to the Sr Manager, Enterprise & Operational Risk Quantification, and will work in the areas of development and maintenance of data analysis, models, tools, and systems related to enterprise and operational risk quantification; and help continue to embed data-driven risk management into the company’s fundamental business processes.

This position will utilize existing PG&E’s enterprise risk models and templates and serve as a subject matter expert on analyzing operational risk data, specifying risk model input parameters, executing models, accessing/reporting input and output data, creating dashboards, assisting users, version controlling, documenting and enhancing user experience. The position will also assist in ongoing maintenance of the input templates, tools, systems, as well as ensuring seamless data flow into and from them.

The ideal candidate will also have strong knowledge of probability and statistics, strong programming skills and analytical problem-solving skills, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides necessary modeling and analytical support to LOBs in specifying risk model and risk spend efficiency inputs and running through the enterprise risk models.
  • Developing visualization tools that clearly communicate the risk and the risk spend efficiency of mitigation and controls
  • Improves and updates existing risk model inputs with new data and requirements
  • Work with the principal analysts in the team to maintain existing enterprise risk tools and templates
  • Analyze risks and effectiveness of mitigation programs
  • Ensure all model enhancements are functional and have not impacted any current functionality
  • Version control of the existing risk inputs, models, and outputs (ensuring verifiability and repeatability of results and a good documentation on the changes and differences between different versions)
  • Diagnose model errors and make recommendations for remediation
  • Implement tools and processes to improve quality and timeliness of risk analysis
  • Performs review of risk models and scenario analysis
  • Support the EORM activities as needed

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Financial Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience in analytical methods and modeling

Desired:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Information systems, business, engineering, financial engineering, economics, statistics, data science, decision science, computer science, quantitative analysis, or other equivalent fields
  • Strong Excel, VBA and PowerPoint skills
  • Competent programming skills in a language such as Python and Java Script
  • Strong knowledge of probability, statistics and risk analysis
  • Strong data visualization skills and techniques for communicating risk-related data in a clear and visually compelling manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Organized, shares knowledge, information and progress with the team effectively and efficiently
