Department Overview
The mission of Gas Investments for the Future (GIF) is to create prosperity for all PG&E customers and investors by reducing costs associated with natural gas assets. This is achieved by implementing cost-effective, long-term alternatives to status quo risk reduction and asset spending plans across the system. GIF is part of the Gas Strategy Execution and System Planning Department, which seeks to evolve the natural gas pipeline and storage system to be an affordable energy delivery platform consistent with California’s and PG&E’s decarbonization goals. PG&E’s gas strategy is comprised of four pillars:
• Reducing costs
• Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
• Increasing throughput
• Policy initiatives
GIF’s primary focus is the “reducing costs” pillar, which builds upon the foundation established by the former Integrated Investment Planning program. This will expand to all asset classes, proactively looking for cost reduction opportunities, and collaborate with other business units for additional GHG reduction and business development opportunities. Position Summary:
Responsible for reviewing forecasted gas asset maintenance plans and identify potential alternative gas system investments that would result in cost-savings. Collaborate with Gas System Planning to identify and develop preliminary recommendations for the most cost-effective system design alternatives and collaborate with Gas Engineering and Operations stakeholders to implement a final recommendation. Perform quality assurance of gas system planning hydraulic analyses and cost analyses. Support GIF process development to maturity and its respective continuous improvement.
Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory. Please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.
Position will require up to 10% of travel time in work schedule.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
