Department Overview

Electric Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity to our customers and is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's electric distribution, substation and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

A critical part of Electric Operations is the Transmission and Substation maintenance and construction (TS M&C) organization.  The TS M&C group is responsible for all T-Line and substation preventative and corrective maintenance, along with inspections, emergency response and daily operations of approximately 1400 electric transmission lines supported by more than 150,000 structures and additional 900 plus substations. 

Both electric transmission line and substation, lines of business (LOBs) are heavily regulated by the CPUC, CAISO, FERC, WECC and NERC and require routine and annual reporting, audit support and more.  The TS M&C Compliance group is accountable for driving all proactive compliance needs for T&S, accountable for all reactive compliance requirements, facilitating field audits and general support of the TS LOBs.

Position Summary

The TS M&C Compliance intern will be a cross-functional team member working directly with LOB compliance, execution and quality subject matter expert for both T and S.  They will work as a liaison throughout the company, driving results in execution, proper documentation, proper and timely notification, and order closeout.  They will work with all T and S regulator to ensure the M&C team has appropriate targets, understanding of priorities, communication of changes to procedures, visibility into compliance dates/objectives and understanding of impacts that spans all aspects of PG&E’s business.

The TS M&C Compliance team is looking for a talented summer intern to help support in the execution of all TS maintenance work, the analysis and proactive communication of compliance risk, response to regulators, data request and more.

The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of experienced compliance program managers, T&S superintendents and frontline employees.  Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Electric Operations organization, Transmission and Substation inspections, repairs, maintenance operations and general construction of Transmission line and Substations, through the work they will be performing.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business and other related fields
  • Students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after the internship 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.


  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
