Department Overview

The Wildfire Safety Compliance Team is part of the Electric Operations Regulatory Compliance organization, where our vision is that together we will create a compliance culture that supports and exceeds our regulator’s expectations for safety, reliability, and customer expectations. The main functions of this department are to ensure that we remain in compliance with our state and federal requirements. The Wildfire Safety Compliance Team is primarily responsible for responding to data requests from the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (OEIS) and inquiries from CAL FIRE. The Wildfire Safety Compliance Team also serves as the primary liaison with the Independent Evaluator and responds to Notice of Violations, Notice of Defects, Wildfire Safety Concerns, and customer complaints for either Energy Safety and/or CAL FIRE.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will manage and administer the Energy Safety and/or CAL Fire programs. The candidate will also provide oversight, governance, communication, training, and reporting for the overall process and project management for the assigned program(s).

The Expert Electric Program Manager will leverage their technical expertise to help guide strategic decisions within the Wildfire Safety Compliance organization. The successful candidate will also support the organization by leading the development of program goals and metrics to meet company goals and objectives and collaborating across the department to ensure alignment of goals to support the program(s).

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​122,000

Bay Area Midpoint: $​158,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​194,000

This is a hybrid position headquartered in the Oakland General Office. Current department expectation has staff in the office at least 1 day per week for regular work and additionally as needed for business needs, generally not to exceed 2 days per week. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Applies expert knowledge of Program Management to wide-ranging issues and assignments, works independently with guidance on only the most complex issues, and may lead project teams within the organization.
  • Develops a program implementation plan with goals and milestones, articulates goals and mission to key stakeholder teams to assure development of deliverables that meet stakeholder needs, and provides direction on the overall program plan and goals.
  • Solves unique and complex problems, anticipates issues, benchmarks for alternative approaches and insights, and develops innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrates strategic leadership with both internal and cross-functional stakeholders to support organization goals.
  • Designs a gap analysis process to identify improvement needs based on external and internal stakeholder input and evaluation.
  • Monitors and ensures closure/completion of projects and/or other program requests.
  • Identifies issues, develops solutions, and presents recommendations and a tactical implementation plan to leadership for approval.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and supports regulatory activities by supplying information for filings, data requests, and meetings with regulators.
  • Maintains strong working relationships with all strategic programs and partners.
  • Develops and implements improved processes, best practices, controls and procedures to improve efficiencies, and ensure regulatory compliance with the program(s).
  • May design and develop new programs under a larger umbrella of goals and initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 7 years
  • Experience in project management

Desired:

  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
  • Advanced knowledge of Program Management
  • Adaptability to adjust to changing business dynamics and priorities and ability to work across multiple teams from different disciplines and backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to various levels of management
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with demanding time constraints
  • Knowledge and understanding of business drivers
  • Demonstrated ability to manage or direct teams
