Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Product OwnerPrincipalto work in a fast-paced and dynamic public Cloud COEPlatform Engineering team. The successful candidate will facilitate PG&E's business vision by improving infrastructure and platforms that all PG&E employees use to design, collaborate and build great customer experiences; accelerate the transformation of cloud services to public and private cloud-based platforms and services; provide cloud leadership for those involved in the product and services design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, support, and operations of PG&E's systems infrastructure.
A critical part of how we operate is to apply design thinking, innovate, and work collaboratively using agile development practices. Through these principles, we work as product teams to help deliver valuable cloud products to our business partners.
The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office based on business needs and up to twice a month.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $147,000
Bay Area Maximum: $251,000
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with architecture and application teams within the CCOE Platform Engineering to develop highly scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud products and services including architectures tailored to address customer business challenges requirement management, service portfolio management, demand management. This includes leveraging CICD and Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) tools like Terraform, autopatching solution, upgrade solutions, transit network services, security and compliance, and ransomware services.
- Assume owner responsibility for the entire lifecycle of platform engineering products and services. Prioritize and design the product and service features, offering leadership and guidance to the CCOE Engineering team in implementing standardized stacks that align with business requirements.
- Stay informed about new and emerging cloud technologies, services, and tools, assessing them for potential integration into existing systems to enhance capabilities. Prioritize and negotiate the design and development of new products and solutions accordingly.
- Utilize public cloud design principles, best practices, and industry standards to design and implement complex platform product solutions, including creating roadmaps and defining features in tools like Jira.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of application portfolios to identify dependencies and common infrastructure platform components and evaluate the feasibility of migration.
- Collaborate with the IT organization to seamlessly integrate cloud infrastructure and network environments with corporate infrastructure and data center environments.
- Assist in aligning product implementation with cloud governance capabilities to ensure security and compliance across multiple cloud platforms.
- Coach, educate, and advocate for the adoption of platform products and services related to infrastructure automation and continuous deployment among teams transitioning to cloud environments.
Qualification:
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- 7 years of IT experience
- 5 years of DevOpsor software development experience
- 3+ years’ experience using commercial Cloudas a Product Owner or Business Architect or Business Analyst managing commercial cloud product and servicesto deploy reliable, cost-effective, scalable, and secure cloud native solutions
- Experience working in an agile/ scrum environment.
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Automation tools and REST API’s
- Experience with one or more CICD and DevOps tools but not limited to AzureDevOps, AWS CodePipeline, Circle CI, Jenkins, GitHub, JFrog
- Experience with test-driven development frameworks for application and infrastructure code
- Experience in Infrastructure as automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CLI
- Experience in building large distributed systems and supporting highly available applications
