Department Overview

Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP) safely and reliably produces electricity that is environmentally responsible and cost effective for our customers and shareholders. DCPP's mission is to be the leading nuclear power plant in the country and to:

  • Inspire and positively influence the industry through our safe, reliable, and excellent operational performance.
  • Embrace new ideas to continuously improve our plant and our work environment.
  • Proactively learn from ourselves and others.
  • Enrich our communities and the environment, increasing the public's trust and confidence in nuclear power.

DCPP developed and submitted a license renewal application (LRA) in the shortest time ever in response to California’s need for greenhouse gas free energy as part of Senate Bill 846 being signed into law in September of 2022.  This accelerated schedule required DCPP to implement aging management programs while developing the LRA concurrently.  The LRA was submitted in November 2023 and is undergoing a detailed review by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).  The License Renewal Project is responsible for defining all the required programs and inspections for license renewal and coordinating all of those inspections (over 750 prior to August 26, 2025).  The project team also coordinates and interfaces with the NRC during their review.

Position Summary

  • Respond to NRC and other regulatory data requests, including the supporting analysis.
