Department Overview
Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP) is a safe, clean, reliable and vital energy resource for that provides low-cost, carbon-free electricity for California and is the state's largest source of clean energy.
Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP) sits on approximately 1,000 acres on the Pacific coast and has operated safely since 1985. The DCPP contains two Westinghouse Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) units that produce a total of 18,000 gigawatt-hours of clean and reliable electricity annually – enough energy to meet the needs of more than 3 million Californians (nearly 10% of California's energy portfolio and 20% of the power that PG&E provides throughout its service area).
Position Summary
The DCPP Innovation team’s mission is to evaluating processes and implementing solutions that support and sustain continued safe, reliable and affordable plant operation for our communities and our customers.
The summer intern position should expect to quickly become familiar with a variety of plant business processes and programs in the areas of business, training, engineering, work management and safety with the intent of identifying potential solutions that utilize a data driven approach to streamline processes.
There are also opportunities to engage with the broader PG&E team through various cross-functional meetings with data science teams across the company and company-wide internship engagements.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $19.91 to $34.07.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Business, Marketing or Communications with an emphasis in information workflows, business operations and/or data at an accredited University.
- Students must be continuing their education towards Bachelors or Master's degree during and/or after the internship with returning back to school in the Fall of 2025.
Desired:
- 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
- Experience with large sets of data and/or database management programs such as SAP
- Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform such as Power Apps, Power Automate, PowerBI, etc.
- Experience or interest in working with AI applications
- Strong ability to assess complex processes quickly
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal direction
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience working with the utility in, municipalities, or other industrial setting
