Department Overview

The purpose of Learning Services is to provide effective training processes that close plant performance gaps, contributes to safe and reliable plant operations, and achieve accreditation renewal by INPO for all Diablo Canyon training programs.

Position Summary

Supervises the daily activities of Technical Training Instructors and ensures that Technical Training programs are implemented with quality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness and customer focus.  Oversees training programs in: Engineering Support Personnel (ESP), Chemistry and Radiation Protection (C&RP).


Will be required to support the DCPP Emergency Response Organization (ERO).


To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check, psychological screen, computer-based training, and be subject to random drug and alcohol.



PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.



A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $137,000
California Maximum: $232,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains direct oversight over the Chemistry, Radiation Protection and Engineering Accredited training programs.
  • Evaluates and provides feedback on instructional techniques, plans, and training materials prepared by instructors, such as outlines, text, and handouts.
  • Establishes expectations for instructors regarding safety, student engagement in classrooms and labs, and the use of human performance tools and techniques.
  • Works with appropriate department management in deploying training resources to best meet their needs.
  • Evaluates, coaches, and mentors instructors on performance and job expectations.
  • Has budgetary and productivity responsibility for work group.
  • Initiates hire, fire, performance evaluation, coach, discipline decisions.
  • Is held accountable for meeting day-to-day work group objectives.
  • Manages department workload to ensure objectives are met and work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Provides feedback and guidance to Instructors regarding training processes, data collection, and interpretation of test results and post training evaluations.
  • Ensures technical training programs are implemented with quality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer focus.
  • Ensures training meets the applicable Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) accreditation and NRC requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Nuclear power plant experience, 4 years

Desired:

  • Leadership experience, 3 years
  • INPO-Institute of Nuclear Power Operations certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite and FOCUS Learning Vision software
  • Previously held a position at Diablo Canyon in Chemistry, Radiation Protection, or Engineering
