Department Overview
Electric Operations (EO) ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.
Electric Operations Construction Management is responsible for the construction, project and contract management of PG&E’s electric distribution overhead and underground facilities.
Position Summary
Position headquarters flexible throughout the PG&E Bay Area Service Territory. This position is “hybrid”, requiring 3 to 4 days in the field (subject to change, due to business needs).
Maintenance and Construction Leadership leads teams of employees directly or indirectly involved in maintaining or building parts of the service territory transmission lines or substations. Supervisors and Superintendents oversee teams working on projects within a specific region or may be assigned to teams working on larger, complex general construction projects throughout the service territory. The leaders provide safe and reliable electric service while maintaining compliance with the California Public Utility Commission General Orders, all Safety regulations and other regulatory requirements. The leaders fully implement and hold subordinates accountable for safety best practices and adherence to the safety accountability model while ensuring full compliance with the Injury & Illness Prevention Program and work closely with the Safety Program Coordinator
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $128,000
Bay Area Maximum: $218,000

California Minimum: $122,000
California Maximum: $207,000
Responsibilities:
- Ensures construction work is completed on time and within budget and to quality expectations while monitoring compliance to standards and specifications.
- Is involved in up-front planning, including but not limited to: attend walk downs, design reviews and constructability reviews to reduce construction costs and increase safety.
- Develops and/or executes action plans to address deficiencies in process or employee skill/knowledge and tracks the progress of those plans.
- Completes and maintains all work documentation or reporting. Effectively utilizes resources by monitoring crew productivity.
- Identifies and pursues productivity improvements and implements work practices to reduce operating costs while meeting corporate and regulatory compliance.
- Identifies and reacts to complex field decisions, utilizing technical knowledge and experience to move forward quickly, considering cost, risk, safety, quality and customer impact. May make certain changes to the work plan as deemed necessary for the situation. Prepares a re- estimation of the work and /or adjusts the project plan as necessary.
- Ensures customers' needs and expectations are met. Provides clear, professional, proactive transmission and distribution partners in a variety of field situations during the project, while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety.
- Facilitates or leads weekly team meetings/tailboards. Conducts training as needed.
- Regularly visits work sites to monitor progress.
- Efficiently and accurately performs monitoring and analysis functions for ongoing projects and work efforts. Reviews current work practices for operational efficiencies and deficiencies and provides feedback. Follows up, and recommends improvement to appropriate parties.
- Develops and maintains work relationships, regional contacts and internal networks. May interact with local government, being able to foster business relationships for permit acquisition.
- Proactively prepares for emergency situations, supports company efforts during emergency situations, communicates deficiencies in emergency response/preparedness, and resolves issues quickly and efficiently using the correct resources.
- Takes action on Notice of Violation (NOV), Notice to Comply (NOC), and environmental compliance. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements including the California Public Utility Commission, Cal OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency, etc.
- May oversee the construction activities of awarded contracts to ensure compliance with PG&E, state and federal agency regulations.
- May manage contract development including scope, pricing, contract structure, and incentives in partnership with the Contract Planning department.
- Effectively manages staff/team(s) through recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and rewards and recognition.
- Ensures a Close-Out plan has been developed to expediently complete all construction activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 7 years of related experience including a minimum of 3 years at the journey level
- Regular travel throughout the service territory for T300 Supervisors
- May need to be on-call or work unusual hours in emergency situations
Desired Qualifications:
- Lead or previous management experience, e.g., as a crew foreman
- Strong project and people management skills.
- General computer skills in Word and Excel along with daily routine experience of e-mail communications.
- Customer services orientation, including communication skills, initiative and problem solving.
- Ability to understand, interpret and communicate electrical work procedures, work methods, standards, policies, and guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively train subordinates on specific work practices.
- Good leadership ability. Understands how to motivate, develop and direct teams as they work. Knowledge of PG&E Training Document 3320T- 12
- Knowledge of the California Public Utility Commission General Orders (GO) 95, 128, 165 and/or 112E
- Demonstrates the ability to perform effectively under deadlines and in emergency situations. Demonstrates skill in achieving cooperation from others in order to achieve a goal.
