Department Overview

The Electric Safety and Compliance Strategy department provides safety and compliance oversight for Electric Transmission, Substation, Distribution, System Inspections and Undergrounding.  The Electric Operations Safety Excellence team partners with the Enterprise Health and Safety (EH&S) team to provide strategic guidance to improve our safety, culture, and performance.

Position Summary

The Expert Change Manager is a recognized subject matter authority responsible for designing and implementing strategies that drive organizational change and safety excellence. This role provides guidance to leadership, manages complex programs, and ensures alignment with PG&E’s Safety Excellence Management System (PSEMS). The position requires advanced organizational skills, critical thinking, and expertise in change management, project management, and Lean methodologies.

This position supports Electric Operations by:

  • Develop complex change management approaches, plans, and tactics for large and complex change management initiatives to support Electric Operations
  • Able to navigate the organization and understand complex inter-relationships of various groups, operations, systems or processes to be able to identify risks, impacts and strategies that will help drive change management strategy and plans
  • Advise and communicate risks and strategies to senior leadership
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Lead development of change management programs, goals, and success measures
  • Oversee tasks and activities pertaining to projects requiring advanced organizational and analytical skills
  • Mentor less experienced change management practitioners and provide subject matter expertise
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices across teams and the organization

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

A reasonable salary range is:

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $ 122,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)          $ 173,800.00

OR

Minimum Base Salary (California)           $ 116,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (California)          $ 165,000.00

Job Responsibilities

  • Applies broad expertise and advanced knowledge to wide-ranging issues
  • May act as a team lead and provide direction to less experienced employees
  • Works with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions
  • Communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences using a variety of media
  • Integrates industry and change management knowledge related to data into everyday business practices and decision making
  • Provides direction on projects and programs
  • Develops new or revises existing scopes of work to ensure compliance standards and deliverables are established.
  • Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions
  • Demonstrates strategic leadership with internal stakeholders to support EO and company goals
  • Collaborates across the organization to ensure alignment of goals to support the program
  • Responsible for utilizing other departments and teams to meet program goals
  • Organizes and leads project teams to influence safety program direction and decisions
  • Develops or provides significant input to PG&E leadership
  • Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business.
  • 8 years of related experience or equivalent

Desired:

  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and training others within the scope of change management
  • Master’s Degree in job-related discipline
  • Prosci Change Management Certification or other industry recognized certification
  • Two years professional experience in Safety
  • Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision making, and to recommend operational improvements
  • Deep knowledge and expertise of business and or industry drivers
  • Ability to lead large and complex projects working with cross-functional teams
  • Adept at addressing issues with diplomacy and tact
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Strong Communication and Presentation Skills
