Department Overview

Information Systems Technology Services is a unified organization comprised of various departments which collaborate effectively to deliver high quality technology solutions. Within IT, the Propel program is pivotal to lay technology foundation to standardize and streamline business processes and drive efficiency.

Position Summary

The Product Owner provides a clear vision of the product that will be built. In this pivotal role, you will be the connective tissue across the organization, driving alignment and execution of complex, high-impact initiatives. You will leverage your deep experience in project methodologies and change management to ensure seamless communication, meticulous planning, and successful delivery of enterprise-level programs.


PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.​


The pay range is:​ $128,000.00 - $190,300.00

This position will be based at PG&E headquarters in Oakland, California with the expectation of being in-person Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between diverse requirement owners and dedicated delivery teams. You will drive clarity, alignment, and timely progress by ensuring smooth, transparent communication channels across all large cross-functional teams.
  • Program and Workstream Management: Manage multiple complex workstreams and associated teams simultaneously. This includes expert handling of dependency management, proactive risk identification and escalation, and maintaining consistent momentum across parallel initiatives.
  • Business Function Analysis: Quickly develop a strong functional understanding of assigned business operations. Analyze how the business function operates and translate those insights into actionable, well-defined project plans and deliverables.
  • Methodology Leadership: Lead projects using a versatile approach, applying hands-on experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. You will tailor the delivery approach effectively based on specific project contexts and organizational needs.
  • Performance and Reporting: Demonstrate high skill in requirement interpretation, define measurable outcomes, and ongoing performance reporting. You will translate nuanced business needs into clear KPIs and robust success metrics, actively tracking and communicating progress.
  • Enterprise Change Management: Lead significant change management initiatives within our large enterprise environment. This includes developing comprehensive communication plans, driving stakeholder alignment, and formulating effective adoption strategies.


Key skills:

  • Proven track record of coordinating complex programs across large, matrixed organizations.
  • Extensive experience managing multiple teams and intricate workstreams, with strong skills in risk mitigation and dependency management.
  • Adept at quickly learning new business functions and translating operational analysis into strategic project plans.
  • Expertise in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, capable of selecting and implementing the appropriate framework for varying projects.
  • Highly skilled in KPI tracking, performance reporting, and translating strategic business needs into measurable project outcomes.
  • Prior experience leading successful management initiatives within a large enterprise setting.


Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma 
  • 5 years job-related experience 


Desired:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience as Product Owner, Agile environment, 5 years
  • Agile Certification
  • Experience with complex technology program deployment
