Business Performance Analyst Intern
Department Overview
Electric T&D Engineering is responsible for the electric system engineering and planning, asset strategy, and risk management across transmission, distribution, and substation asset families. This centralized, risk-informed approach allows PG&E to manage electric risk, asset and system health, interconnections, and performance by using consistent standards, work methods, prioritization, and program sponsorship, while leveraging lessons learned from inspections and asset data to inform asset management decisions. Accountable for asset planning and strategy, standards and work methods, and asset data management for Electric.
Position Summary
PG&E is seeking an experienced business professional to be a member of the Electric T&D Engineering team as Business Performance Analyst supporting financial and business operations reporting. This role will focus primarily on the data intake, analysis, and elements associated with the Electric T&D Engineering, Compliance and Risk organization. A strong applicant will have a data analysis background and be comfortable working in PowerBI, Excel, Access, SQL and other databases. The role is classified as hybrid, working primarily from your remote office and in-person in the Oakland General Office, approximately once per week or more, as business needs require.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
The hourly rate for a bachelor’s degree ranges from $19.91 to $35.37.
Responsibilities
- Extract and analyze data from various PG&E systems, aggregating and synthesizing to formulate reports to support financial and business operations reporting.
- Work with budget owners/lead to understand costs, forecasts, accruals for their programs.
- Work with engineering teams to understand productivity metrics and track improvement efforts.
- Support managing and update visual management dashboards.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science or job related discipline at an accredited University
- Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship
Desired:
- 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
- Experience in Analysis/Trending/Metrics, Reporting/Governance, Project/Program Management, Engineering, Construction or related education
- Experience collecting and reviewing data (e.g., searching for anomalies/data gaps/inconsistencies), utilizing repeatable processes and adding controls when possible, to increase data integrity
- Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
