Position Summary
The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for Electric Vehicle (EV) and Vehicle-Grid-Integration (VGI) corporate strategy, policy advocacy, and various enterprise EV and VGI programs, pilots and initiatives. This includes regulatory, strategy development, stakeholder outreach, program design, development, management and implementation of various infrastructure, customer experience, incentive, rate, and future programs. This position will act as the company’s thought leader and primary point of contact for EV & clean transportation internally and externally.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work headquarters in Oakland.
Reporting Relationship
The Director, Clean Energy Transportation, will report to the Senior Director, Electrification & Decarbonization.
Job Responsibilities
The Director will lead the implementation of PG&E’s EV Programs (SB 350, Low Carbon Fuel Standard, EV rates, V2X Pilots and Emerging Programs) and other electrification/clean transportation efforts. Responsibilities include:

- Program Administration
- Administer and efficiently deliver all aspects of current and future electric vehicle/clean transportation programs, including safety, financial performance, compliance, operations, stakeholder management, and customer service.
- Ensure program adherence to regulatory compliance policies and support regulatory activities.
- Improve the overall customer experience of and satisfaction with the electrification journey.
- Develop and utilize data, analysis, models, metrics, and reports to guide program administration.
- Implement and optimize the Lean Operating System in all aspect of the department.
- Industry and Stakeholder Leadership
- Lead PG&E’s vision and strategy to with electric vehicles/clean transportation.
- Lead PG&E’s regulatory, strategy, and industry efforts to ensure success of programs and influence the EV/clean transportation landscape toward common objectives.
- Represent PG&E nationally and statewide to advocate for and advance our interests in clean transportation.
- Communications
- Support preparation and presentation of data and information to key stakeholders, legislators, California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), county officials, and other external events.
- Coordinate with local and regional stakeholders, including other utilities, environmental NGOs, and federal, state, and local government in conjunction with PG&E regulatory, strategy and policy leaders as needed.

Compensation
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $174,000
Bay Area Maximum: $ 296,000
Background Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Policy, Law, or other relevant degree or equivalent years’ related work experience.
- 10 years of related work experience.
- Three years supervisory/managerial experience.
Desired:
- Advanced degree in engineering, policy, law, business, or similar.
- Utility and/or clean energy industry experience.
- Experience with pre-construction activities and understanding of construction management.
- Experience managing and improving processes.
- Managerial experience which includes development and performance management.
- Strong strategic and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and experience engaging effectively with a range of stakeholders (e.g., technical staff or C-level executives).
