Department Overview
The IT Third-Party Strategy and Operations (TPSO) team, within the Office of the CIO (OCIO), provides the governance, structure, and operational discipline that enable effective management of PG&E’s IT third-party ecosystem. TPSO drives strategic, operational, and financial oversight across contracts, vendors, labor programs, and portfolio data, ensuring consistent standards, informed decision-making, and optimized spend. Through cross-functional partnership with sourcing, finance, architecture, and delivery teams, TPSO establishes enterprise controls, enhances transparency, and supports the reliable delivery of IT services that power the business.
Position Summary
This role serves as a central integration point for the IT Third-Party Strategy and Operations leadership team, helping translate priorities into clear plans and ensuring coordinated execution across multiple functional areas. The position partners closely with other OCIO teams, sourcing, finance, architecture, and delivery organizations to align stakeholders, manage interdependencies, and maintain an effective operating cadence that drives program outcomes.
With a focus on IT third-party management, the role helps coordinate work across contract governance, vendor management, labor programs, and financial oversight activities to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with enterprise standards. This includes tracking progress across initiatives, surfacing risks and decisions, and ensuring dependencies are actively managed across internal teams and external partners.
The role also supports program-level reporting and leader-ready communications, enabling informed decision-making and visibility into performance, financials, and delivery outcomes. Operating with a high degree of autonomy and influence, this position works across organizational boundaries to connect strategy to execution and ensure complex third-party initiatives remain aligned, well-governed, and on track.
PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity,specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint $129,000 - $168,000. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Bay Area Min: $ 129,000
Bay Area Max: $ 207,000
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and 2-3 days per week at our Oakland Headquarters based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
Job Responsibilities
- Leads complex, cross-functional initiatives that support IT third-party strategy execution, ensuring alignment across contract governance, vendor management, labor programs, and financial oversight activities.
- Serves as a central coordination point across OCIO, sourcing, finance, architecture, delivery teams, and external partners, managing interdependencies and driving progress to achieve program objectives.
- Establishes and maintains operating cadence, including tracking milestones, risks, decisions, and action items to ensure consistent execution and accountability across multiple workstreams.
- Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, supporting effective collaboration and alignment across the third-party ecosystem.
- Monitors program performance, including financials, budgets, and key metrics, and provides clear, data-driven insights into variances, risks, and opportunities.
- Communicates program status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, including preparing concise, executive-ready updates and materials.
- Identifies opportunities to improve processes, governance, and operating models, including recommending enhancements to third-party management practices and standards.
- Provides guidance and informal leadership to team members and stakeholders, helping align work to strategic priorities and reinforcing consistent execution practices.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- Job-related experience, 8 years
Desired:
- Masters Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
Additional Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional programs that span multiple teams and stakeholder groups
- Strong understanding of IT third-party management, including contract governance, vendor management, and labor programs
- Experience working across the full third-party lifecycle, including planning, execution, and ongoing governance of external partners
- Ability to build alignment and influence decisions across senior leaders, functional teams, and external partners without direct authority
- Proven ability to manage interdependencies, risks, and execution across multiple initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Experience establishing operating cadences, tracking program performance, and driving accountability to outcomes
- Strong business and financial acumen, with experience supporting budget tracking, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, executive-ready messaging
- Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven environments, with an understanding of governance, controls, and audit considerations
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, exercise sound judgment, and operate independently while maintaining alignment with leadership priorities
