Department Overview
PG&E IT is a unified organization composed of various departments which collaborate effectively to plan, deliver and operate high quality technology solutions. The Business Technology – Geospatial Information Systems Center of Excellence (GIS COE) department has responsibility for maintaining and operating IT applications in GIS to support Gas, Electric, Power Generation, IT Fiber, and other functional areas while also delivering IT projects and solutions in support of their business goals and priorities.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Program Manager that will be instrumental in executing the Elevate Program Plan while ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and dependent programs. The successful candidate will drive key portion of the program forward by leveraging and leading their team and cross-functional partners. This role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in delivering complex programs within defined timelines, budgets, and scope. PG&E needs a leader adept in managing stakeholder expectations, fostering seamless cross-functional collaboration, and driven by a passion for innovative problem-solving.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office two to three days a week on average.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $140,000
Bay Area Maximum: $238,000
Job Responsibilities
- Lead large GIS programs approximately with $5M-$50M annual budgets (may exceed $100M annually)
- Coordinate with other Program/Project Managers in parallel workstreams
- Develop and implement strategic plans for IT programs and projects including setting project goals, timelines, and performance metrics to ensure successful delivery
- Manage program and project budgets, ensuring financial resources are used efficiently and projects are completed within the allocated budget
- Identify potential risks to the success of projects and develop comprehensive mitigation plans to address these risks proactively
- Lead cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and effective communication among team members from different departments to achieve project objectives
- Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, changes, and any issues that arise, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives
- Plans Officer-level engagement events and other significant events with key leaders
- Track project milestones and assess the performance of projects to ensure they meet the set objectives and deliver the expected outcomes
- Ensure project teams have the necessary resources, including personnel, technology, and tools, for timely and efficient execution of their tasks
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, communication plans, risk logs, and status reports, to ensure all project information is accurately recorded and accessible
- Ensure robust project governance to ensure compliance with internal audit requirements
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of IT programs by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing best practices
- Provide General Rate Case (GRC) data request response support
- Accurately and consistently forecasting project resource, material, and costs within standard PG&E tools
- Exercise autonomy, independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with broad scope and high complexity
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years job-related experience or equivalent
Desired:
- 5+ years Esri GIS Technology experience
- 5+ years Electric and or Gas Utility experience
- 3+ years of managing and being accountable for budgets exceeding $100M
- Enterprise level deployments of Geospatial Technology
- Experience in leading utility implementation of Esri GIS
- Esri GIS implementation of 2,000+ users
- Enterprise level deployments of GIS
- Cloud deployment experience
