Department Overview
The Electric Engineering team ensure all manners of electric engineering including electric standards and process safety, electric asset planning, design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects.
Position Summary
Leads a team that develops new applications, designs and installs new IT technical architecture and infrastructure systems, or enhances existing systems. Assembles the project team and utilizes the provided cost and scheduling tools to define the scope, budget, and resource needs, and controlling other project variables. Functions as a liaison between IT and the Business Client. Acts as the go-to person that represents the entire project from the planning through to the deployment stage.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $151,000
Bay Area Maximum: $257,000
Job Responsibilities
- Accurately and consistently forecasting project resource, material and contract costs within a standard PG&E tool(s)
- Assessing project performance and implementing changes as necessary to ensure the projects remains within specified cost, schedule, scope and quality objectives
- Clearly defining and communicating roles, responsibilities and expectations for all members of the project team
- Collaborates with others to develop goals that will achieve company strategy.
- Communicating individual project roles and expectations
- Communicating status of all projects to stakeholders and management
- Completion of project artifact audits on time
- Conducting project kick-off meetings
- Conducting site visits as necessary
- Coordinating any required contract work within defined PG&E policy
- Developing and maintaining a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors and key clients
- Developing and Maintaining up-to-date detailed project schedules and work plans
- Developing metrics, procedures, objectives and methods to assess project progress while using established standards and quality objectives
- Driving all project related tasks to completion
- Ensuring all project team members have the tools and training necessary to perform effectively
- Exercising independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with moderate scope and complexity
- Functioning in a process oriented environment
- Gathering, defining and documenting project requirements
- Independently planning all associated work to meet project goals
- Independently plans work to meet broad objectives.
- May lead a team of 1 – 2 employees
- Monitoring critical project milestones, and identifying ways to resolve schedule issues
- Obtaining and defining staffing requirements and forming project teams
- Preparing all project documentation for closure, storage, and possible auditing activities, ensuring technical accuracy
- Provides creative and innovative approaches to meet work plan objectives.
- Providing direction and leadership to project management analysts and schedulers
- Recording, tracking and communicating issues, risks, changes, and status reports within a PG&E standard tool
- Resolving problems of project specific scope within procedural guidelines
- Responsible for leading a group of Project Managers on a particular task; this leadership role will include mentoring, training, direction and oversight of their assigned responsibilities.
- Responsible for leading one or more projects typically between $1,000,000 - $50,000,000
- Seeks guidance only on critical and politically sensitive issues.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering or equivalent required
- 10+ years of demonstrated IT project management experience including managing one or more large complex IT product/software development cycles/projects
- Experience with IT professional service agreements and materials logistics
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute
Desired:
- Graduate Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Leadership experience, job-related, 5 years
- Experience in PMO-Program Management Office development
