Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with expertise in Salesforce development lifecycle and deployment automation using Copado. In this role, you will be responsible for streamlining and automating CI/CD processes, managing version control, and ensuring robust deployment pipelines within the Salesforce ecosystem. You will collaborate with Salesforce development and operations teams to deliver scalable and efficient solutions, enabling smooth releases and operational excellence.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $114,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $182,000.00
Job Responsibilities
1. CI/CD Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines tailored for Salesforce using Copado. Automate the deployment process for metadata, code, and configurations across environments. Maintain version control (Git or similar tools) and ensure branch management best practices.
2. Salesforce Environment Management: Manage multiple Salesforce orgs (sandboxes, production) to ensure consistency and stability. Coordinate sandbox refreshes, data migrations, and org synchronizations. Implement backup and rollback strategies for Salesforce environments.
3. Automation and Scripting: Develop custom scripts and Copado flows to enhance automation. Identify manual processes within the Salesforce DevOps lifecycle and automate where possible.
4. Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor deployments to identify and resolve issues proactively. Perform root cause analysis for deployment failures and implement corrective actions.
5. Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with Salesforce admins, developers, and architects to align DevOps processes with business objectives. Provide training and support to development teams on Copado usage and best practices.
6. Compliance and Governance: Enforce compliance with Salesforce governance standards, including audit trails and security protocols. Ensure release management adheres to organizational and regulatory requirements.
7. Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize deployment strategies to reduce downtime and increase reliability. Evaluate and implement new tools or processes to enhance the Salesforce DevOps ecosystem.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years in Salesforce development, administration, or DevOps roles
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of Salesforce metadata, APIs, and deployment mechanisms
- Strong expertise with Copado or similar Salesforce DevOps tools
- Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and deployment automation
- Proficiency in Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, and SOQL
- Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation frameworks
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Copado Administrator or Developer Certification
- Salesforce Platform Developer I/II Certification
- Experience with multi-cloud integrations and DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps)
- Knowledge of Salesforce DX and CLI for advanced automation
