Department Overview
The position will reside within PG&E’s Strategy organization. PG&E’s Strategy team leads the development and facilitation of True North Strategy, co-creates and supports strategy and policy initiatives related to energy system and decarbonization strategies, and incubates emerging business opportunities. With PG&E’s core values of serving our planet and delivering for our hometowns at heart, the team assesses cross-functional and line of business-specific industry trends and opportunities, provides internal consulting to support functional area strategy development and performance improvement, and leads high-profile utility initiatives.
Position Summary
The Strategy Principal plays a key role in the organization as the leader of high-profile workstreams that directly impact our large organization and the communities that we serve. The role builds strong relationships across our organization to draw together expertise and complements that with strong analytical rigor, industry experience and effective leadership skills.
In addition to specific workstreams, the role will set and implement new standard approaches to work, improving organizational interdependence, ownership, and quality. This person will work closely with senior executives, along with line of business leadership across the company, to maintain high transparency and alignment of these impacts.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $136,000
Bay Area Maximum: $232,000
Job Responsibilities
- Quantitative Analysis and Insight Generation: Analyze financial, operating, customer and market data to identify performance trends, risks and opportunities relevant to PG&E’s strategy development and execution. Develop infographics and document insights from data to stimulate meaningful discussion and decision-making by colleagues and company leadership. Perform ad hoc analyses in support of cross-functional efforts as a representative of the strategy team.
- Business partnership and collaboration: Interact within the strategy team and cross-functionally with other departments to collect and communicate strategic findings and direction. Prepare high quality financial models and PowerPoint materials to be presented to senior PG&E leadership and for use with external stakeholders.
- Business Process Design and Support: Informed by quantitative and qualitative analyses, develop new process designs to address targeted strategic opportunities identified by the team. Actively coordinate cross-functionally and with PG&Es program management organizations to support the execution of strategies and impact assessments.
- Facilitate and Lead Strategic Initiatives: Play an integral role in guiding the strategy development and planning process by facilitating external benchmarking and breakthrough thinking approaches among PG&E experts and leadership. Help pressure test business unit strategies and ensure effective coordination across strategic efforts by managing engagement, communications and facilitating intra-company collaboration.
- Capability Leadership and Mentorship: Be recognized increasingly as a functional and subject matter expert who proactively mentors and trains coworkers on quantitative tools and concepts to help them gain a deeper understanding and engagement with emerging best practices.
Minimum
- BA or BS in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience
