Department Overview

The work performed by the Corporate Security Department (CSD) is key to the company’s success in protecting employees, the contract workforce, the public, and the company’s physical assets, including several which are critical to the nation’s power grid infrastructure. The CSD provides a variety of opportunities, including involvement in developing, communicating, and implementing processes and tools relating to investigations, formal communications with company officers, personnel development, and coordination of the company’s physical security efforts. Importance is placed on developing close partnerships with other Functional Organizations and law enforcement, to ensure quick response and appropriate communication of issues and mitigation plans.

Position Summary

The Executive Protection Supervisor is a highly trained professional responsible for the day-to-day operations of safeguarding the Chief Executive Officer and other Senior Officers by ensuring staff conduct threat assessments, plan secure routes, provide close physical protection, and respond to potential security threats. The actions of keeping the CEO and other coworkers safe from harm are performed while maintaining a discreet presence to minimize disruption to the CEO.

The Executive Protection Supervisor works closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and staff to provide security for the CEO and Senior Executive Officers as needed. The Executive Protection Supervisor will also work closely with other Corporate Security personnel during special events to help provide physical security and to conduct advance security assessments of future venues.   

The role is full-time and will require your ability to work and travel in various locations from the Oakland General Office to various locations within the PG&E service territory, out of the state, and internationally.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum:             $118,000              

Bay Area Maximum:            $188,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervisor and/or perform executive protection functions including executive driving, security advances, executive safety/security, proactive intelligence collection on site/office security, and residential security/safety evaluations.
  • Supervising and training a team of close protection officers to ensure they are prepared and effective.
  • Coordination of activities with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and maintaining active communications with executive staff and other business units.
  • Oversee threat investigations that involve the executive protection program and related responsibilities.
  • Handling emergency situations promptly and effectively and ensuring the CEO’s safety at all times.
  • Maintain expertise and skill levels in the executive protection program including driving, personal protection, defensive tactics, combat shooting, first aid/CPR, site security evaluations and state of the art security technology.
  • Remain available for executive protection 24/7, including immediate response to the security/safety needs of the executive and his or her family members.
  • Participate in the planning and coordination of travel (business or pleasure) involving the executive and his or her family members to provide security/safety recommendations and related security mitigations.
  • Travel outside the San Francisco Bay Area and State of CA at least 20% of the time.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Complete related staff assignments, research projects, presentations, and security vulnerability assessments and plans.
  • Assist in the planning of major events involving the executives from a security perspective.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Protection Manager and Director.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years of relevant experience in the physical security or law enforcement field to include executive protection, event security, and/or leadership experience.
  • Current CA Guard Card or the ability to obtain one within 180-days of employment
  • Current California driver’s license or ability to obtain
  • Current U.S. Passport
  • Authority to carry a concealed weapon in accordance with HR 218
  • Must be able to qualify for NERC/CIP clearance

Desired:

  • BA/BS degree in Criminology, Police Science, Criminal Justice Administration
  • Executive protection experience from law enforcement or the military
  • Executive Protection Accreditation from a local, state, or national school
