Position Summary
Works to detect, prevent, and mitigate safety risks across the organization. Provides subject matter expertise related to field observations and offers consultation and guidance in the development of effective corrective actions. Collaborates closely with and supports the Business Line (BL) on safety-related matters. Communicates safety trends and recommends corrective actions to drive continuous improvement. Serves as a resource for the development, implementation, and long-term sustainability of company-wide safety initiatives.
This is a hybrid position, with work performed from remote offices based on business needs. The assigned work area includes the greater Santa Rosa/Napa region, with headquarters based in Petaluma, CA.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from:
Bay Area Minimum: $50.48
Bay Area Maximum: $81.25
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct field work procedure and driver observations in support of the Distribution Electric Operations Business Line (BL) and capture all data within our companies observation tool
- Collaborate with the BL at all levels of the organization to promote and integrate safety practices, including field employees, leadership, and grassroots personnel.
- Serve as a safety subject matter expert for BL supervisors and field employees.
- Support accident investigation teams as a subject matter expert to help identify causal factors. Complete and distribute investigation documentation.
- Analyze and communicate safety trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Coach BL leadership on new and existing safety initiatives.
- Support the organization’s Emergency Operations during catastrophic events.
- Consult with BL supervisors on incident investigations, including SEMS and SIAP completion, and assist with corrective action plan development.
- Attend daily safety meetings and periodically support Safety Summits and Driving Rodeos.
- Maintain proficiency in conducting hazard evaluations for complex work activities and recommending appropriate controls.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills by delivering clear, engaging safety presentations that resonate with and involve personnel at all organizational levels.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- Relevant experience, 5 years
- Ability to have or obtain Safety professional certification, initial level, for example, ASP, CHST, CUSP, OHST, within 1 year of job placement
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or equivalent experience.
- Professional safety certification such as CHST, STSC, CUSP, SMP, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting Electric Distribution or Restoration work.
- Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and other applicable safety regulations.
- Demonstrated skill in conducting hazard evaluations for complex work activities and recommending effective controls.
