Department Overview
PG&E’s Security organization is a dynamic group of security professionals, working to protect our facilities, people, asset, and data. We are a strategic organization that is proactively adapting and growing to meet the challenges from ever-evolving adversaries. The organization’s core function is to is to reduce the likelihood and consequence of PG&E from experiencing significant business and operational disruptions due to an adverse security event (unintentional or malicious). The Security Communication, Training, and Engagement department within the boarder organization helps business partners proactively identify and mitigate risks, developing initiatives to protect PG&E from attacks, and engaging with other stakeholders to continually improve PG&E’s security posture. The department is in the process of transforming the Security culture within PG&E by converging Corporate and Cyber Security communications, engagement and training teams into one, cost effective, regionally based team. The department leads key risk reduction initiatives through communication, training, awareness, and reshaping the cyber hygiene of our co-workers, business partners, and customers to secure PG&E.
Position Summary
The Security Program Manager Field Presence is responsible for leading up the field and regional engagement, training, and events with our Regional Teams, business partners, and customers. This position will implement and manage new security communication, training, awareness, and engagement initiatives as an ongoing program. This position will travel to PG&E and customer sites in regional areas to present on topics regarding security and support Regional Teams. This position will prepare material and conduct public speaking to reduce security risk for field co-workers, business partners, and customers. This position will communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences using a variety of media. This position will ensure program is operating effectively through impact score cards, metrics, and reporting.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location (Sacramento or Fresno) or out in the field approximately 4 - 5 per week, based on business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $102,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $162,000.00
OR
California Minimum: $97,000.00
California Maximum: $154,000.00
Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with PG&E Regional Teams to engage, train, and host events with field co-workers, business partners, and customers
- Constantly travel within PG&E service territory to support events, activities, and co-workers.
- Design presentation and event material that engages the audience
- Communicate at all levels from individual contributors to senior leadership including public speaking
- Applies broad expertise and advanced problem solving to wide-ranging issues
- Works with VPs, Directors and Managers across function areas to drive and influence decisions
- Managing relationship and providing guidance to Security, Regional Teams, business partners, and customers
- Partnering with the Communication, Marketing, Safety, Security organization and external partners to develop and implement strategies to reach appropriate audience at the appropriate time
- Identifying and maintaining strong working relationships with all strategic programs and partners
- Identifying stakeholders and communicate within and outside of PG&E
- Integrates industry knowledge related to data into everyday best practices and decision making to proactively mitigate security risks
- Provides others with guidance around complex industry security environment and considerations
- Performs in-depth quality assurance and final reviews for communications, presentations, and solutions
- Identify trends and report out on status of security activities and threats
- Advise on the design and implementation of internal controls in alignment with the Security team
- Advise on updates to Security Standards and Procedures
- Developing and/or implementing policies and procedures
- Developing and monitoring budgets and forecasts
- Developing, measuring, and reporting on success of the program
- Support the Security goals and team as needed
Qualifications
Minimum
- BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience
Desired
- Communication and training specialist experience
- Physical security and cyber security experience
- Public Speaking experience
- Lean Six Sigma experience
- Program Management experience
- Valid driver license
- Comprehensive understanding of existing cyber and physical security controls, compliance practices, control frameworks (NIST, ISO, SANS, etc.)
- Master’s degree
- Utility industry experience
- Security certification
- PMP certification
- LSS certification
- Experience with NERC CIP, HIPAA, TSA SD, SOX, FERC, CEUD, GDPRA, CPRA compliance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Able to lead projects, events, and cross-organizational activities

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required including public speaking
- Advanced knowledge of Program Management work responsibilities and procedures

- Ability to influence leaders inside and outside of the department through data analysis, insights and recommendations
- Ability to create compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs
- Keeps abreast of regulatory, legal and industry changes that could impact IT/security
- Process development and process improvement and process flow mapping
- Adept at addressing issues with diplomacy and tact
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Advance skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, and Co-pilot
- Proficient in creating content and influencing for multiple social media platforms
- Ability to drive for long distance and for multiple days a week
