Department Overview

Gas Operations oversees the natural gas transmission and distribution operations. The team maintains and operates 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipeline, 43,000 miles of distribution main, 3.6 million gas services, three PG&E-owned storage facilities with 102 BCF capacity, nine compressor stations with 175K HP, and 5,000 measurement and control facilities. Gas Operations is comprised of approximately 6,000 coworkers.

Position Summary

The supervisor manages a team of gas craft employees within Gas Operations and Pipeline Maintenance that execute preventative compliance and regulatory maintenance, repairs, system reconfiguration, emergency response, project and construction support on the gas transmission and distribution system.

This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​129,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​207,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Models, supports, and grows safety culture through human performance tools usage, injury prevention, safe driving, fatigue management, grass roots safety support, and application of safety accountability.
  • Communicates business goals and ensures team is on track to meet objectives including striving to provide 10 out of 10 customer service.
  • Manages and oversees planning and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance, emergency response, project and construction support.
  • Provides emergency response, interacting with first responders, gas control, customers, and other functional areas.
  • Supports PG&E’s leak response, investigation and corrective program.
  • Ensures team’s adherence to work standards, procedures, corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures work-execution is safe, compliant, documented, within scope, within budget, and attributed to appropriate accounting.
  • Reviews time sheets, expense reports and access requests.
  • Ensures timely completion of team’s profiled training and required job qualifications.
  • Leads investigations and develops corrective action plans.
  • Mentors and develops team members, growing business knowledge and technical skills.
  • Fosters teamwork and collaboration within work group and cross functionally.
  • Supports joy at work where coworkers feel valued and known through team building, recognition and encouraging speaking up.
  • Facilitates team and project meetings, operating reviews, safety tailboards, process improvement, and ad hoc training as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • 5 Years of relevant experience. Relevant experience may include exposure to utility, maintenance, construction, operations, logistics or service planning work.
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent
  • Subject to random DOT drug and alcohol testing
  • Requires regular travel to projects and to visit employees in the field within assigned geographic area.
  • Stands on and conducts emergency on-call; works unusual hours in emergency situations.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent experience
  • Gas utility experience
  • Lockout tagout (LOTO) and/or pipeline clearance experience
  • Leadership experience of represented or non-represented employees
  • Project management experience
  • Customer service experience
