Department Overview
Gas Operations oversees the natural gas transmission and distribution operations. The team maintains and operates 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipeline, 43,000 miles of distribution main, 3.6 million gas services, three PG&E-owned storage facilities with 102 BCF capacity, nine compressor stations with 175K HP, and 5,000 measurement and control facilities. Gas Operations is comprised of approximately 6,000 coworkers.
Position Summary
This key position will support the Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) team in Gas to detect, prevent and mitigate safety risks. Provides subject matter expertise on incident analyses and provides consultation and guidance on corrective action development. Collaborates and supports Gas and provides guidance on all safety-related business. Utilizes safety trend analysis to identify and mitigate actions to correct gaps. Introduces and implements innovative solutions with impact to correct gaps. Serves as a resource and support for the development, implementation, and sustainability of the various Gas safety initiatives including but not limited to HU, Grassroots, Safety Culture, Near Hits, and Trending.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office, at PG&E work locations, and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $126,000
Bay Area Maximum: $200,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $120,000
California Maximum: $190,000
Job Responsibilities
- Manages and develops safety programs for improved safety performance within Gas. Subject Matter expert for applicable safety programs.
- Ensures mutual collaboration within Gas and integrates in all levels of the organization with regard to safety (field employees, grassroot).
- Serves as a liaison between the technical and practical aspects of safety and ensures implementation into the line of business.
- Frequently shares safety information to all in an impactful and results oriented way.
- Conducts trending of data to understand the leading indicators of safety issues
- Communicates safety trends and recommends safety corrective actions.
- Mentors leaders on safety process and applicable programs.
- Creates safety action plans to strategize approach and provide guidance in development.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BA/BS or equivalent experience or equivalent work experience
- 7 years related work experience
Desired:
- Professional Certification/Safety Management (e.g., Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Management)
- Experience working with Gas Operations and/or Gas Engineering
- Creative problem-solving skills to develop solutions
- Influencing skills to effectively gain buy-in from leaders inside and outside of the department
