Department Overview
Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.
Position Summary
Responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving an organization's resilience to disruptions. This includes developing and implementing a business continuity program, and conducting risk assessments, Partners with other leaders to develop and recommend a strategic direction for emergency preparedness and response and public partnerships. Oversees staff involved in implementation of emergency plans & processes, training, emergency exercises/drills, communication and actual incident management. Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory safety policies and practices.
- This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location based on business need.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
Bay Minimum: $140,000
Bay Maximum: $238,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains, and implements strategies and solutions for the business continuity program
- Support all functional area activities necessary to enable the organization to manage a crisis event
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the development and testing of business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical business functions and systems.
- Develops strategic relationships with agency partners at the operational level.
- Utilizes knowledge of the industry, continuous process improvement opportunities and company business needs to assist in the development of emergency management strategy aligned with the business and related emergency management groups in the company. Presents recommended strategy to Director of Strategy & Execution for approval and implementation planning.
- Partners within our communities and agency partners to develop joint preparedness, response and recovery plans, conducting joint training and exercises and identifying opportunities for mitigation of disaster impact.
- Supervises delivery of program related planning, training, exercise and emergency planning and response services to all lines of business. Supports increased preparedness and capabilities, instills advanced understanding of the Incident Command System, and builds credible public safety partnerships.
- Ensures an adequate level of preparedness across all staff in their assigned emergency roles. Ensures the completion of preparedness activities across multiple departments depending on the level of the emergency.
- Provides operational support to the planning, development and implementation of electric or gas emergency incident restoration and recovery efforts.
- May attend meetings and support presentation to several external emergency management organizations such as the State Office of Emergency Services (OES), CA Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), California Utilities Emergency Association (CUEA), and Western Energy Institute (WEI).

Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- 8 years total relevant experience.
- 2 years of experience in a utility or related field.
- 5 years in emergency management or related field
Desired:
- Professional certifications in business continuity management, such as CBCP or MBCI
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and business impact analyses.
- Experience in Incident Command System
- Excellent strategic, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Project management experience
- ICS-Incident Command System 100-400 certification
- NIMS-National Incident Management System IS700/IS800 certification
