Department Overview

Position Summary
This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.
Note: As a Part-Time Utility Machine Operator, work hours depend on business needs.
Utility Machine Operators are responsible for operating high-speed and manual equipment to process customer payments. This includes payment extraction and processing check and cash payments by utilizing high speed imaging equipment.
This job will be based in West Sacramento, CA. The part time schedule below subject to change based on business needs.
Monday - 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Tuesday - 5:30 am – 11:30 am
Wednesday - 5:30 am - 11:30 am
PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $ 23.29 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
Job Responsibilities:
- While standing, operate various high-speed equipment, sorting incoming mail and extracting payments.
- Scan incoming mail affixing labels to mail trays manually.
- Process rejected customer payments and send out customer letters.
- Immediate work area utilizes mail carts to move work within department and other areas.
- Perform numerical data entry to record customer payments and balance customer account.
- Receive, process, and post customer payments
- Receive bundles of checks and verify accuracy.Prepare deposit slips and ensure proper balancing for bank deposits.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds a minimum of one time a day
- Ability to sit stationery 4-8 hours per day
- Ability to stand 4-8 hours per day
Desired:
- 1 year demonstrated experience in mailroom operations or production environment
- Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, and/or overtime (scheduled or ad hoc)
- Experience with computer data entry
- Ability to execute numerical data entry
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to type at least 20 words per minute
- Graduation from a PowerPathway® Program is preferred.
- Current or past work experience with PG&E and/or Hiring Hall.
- To better represent the communities we serve, we prefer applicants to live within 50 miles of the work location.
