Department Overview
The Procurement organization is the functional lead for the procurement of materials and services at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The department collaborates with internal clients and suppliers managing more than $12 billion of annual company spend to develop mutually beneficial total value solutions for goods and services. The department provides the following services to internal clients: procurement of goods and services, strategic sourcing and cost savings, category management, supplier relationship management, execution and outreach, compliance management, ongoing procurement field support and management of the source to pay cycle.
Position Summary
The Manager, Business Strategy will lead a team to manage all aspects of contract administration for work performed by external contractors. This role partners with Sourcing Operations, Contract Operations, Strategic Sourcing, and other key stakeholders to manage and prepare contract documents, payment of contracted third party suppliers from invoice validation and good receipting, contract tracking, support of KB61, purchase requisition submission and PO and contract close out. Responsibilities also include managing and auditing contractor spending internally and externally to assure payment accuracy. The Business Strategy Manager will ensure payments to suppliers are managed timely and in compliance with contractual terms and all company policies, driving operational excellence and enabling successful delivery across the organization.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work headquarters.
PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Pay Range display:
Bay Area – $140,000 to $207,900
Reporting Relationship
The Manager, Business Strategy will report to the Senior Director, Procurement Operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Partners with Supply Chain leadership and stakeholders to develop procurement and contract documents for contractors supporting LOB.
- Leads initiatives within Contract Administration to assess current state and identify improvements in goals relating to compliance with contract terms, corporate standards, policies, and procedures.
- Identifies process gaps, opportunities, and improvements as they relate to preparation of contract documents and billing compliance
- Leads industry trend and benchmarking analysis to evaluate contract administration operations effectiveness and inform internal improvements
- Manages escalations related to contract-issues concerning invoices, accruals
- Oversees contract spend, contract adherence, and overall governance across multiple spend categories in multiple LOBs, which have a spending authority of $100,000 to $10 million
Background Qualifications
Minimum
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, business administration or comparable quantitative field or equivalent related work experience
- 8 years of relevant experience, with steady progression of responsibilities, including supervisory/managerial experience
Desired
- Master's degree in engineering, economics, business administration or equivalent quantitative field
- Six Sigma, CPSM or other related certification. Utility, energy or regulatory industry experience
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
- 4-5 years of management/supervisor experience
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- Analytical problem solving and decision-making skills to develop comprehensive solutions
