Department Overview
Operations Support is dedicated to creating cross-commodity consistency and standards in Operations. The team provides support services guided by best practices and a relentless pursuit for improvement. It has single points of accountability for Clerical Services, Change Control & Order Management, Performance & Process Improvement, Ops Data Analytics & Tools, and Clerical Knowledge & Skills. Operations Support is comprised of approximately 600 coworkers.
Position Summary
The Data and Analytics Leadership job family leads a team that delivers business intelligence dashboards, work tracking tools and products by leveraging data visualization, local, virtual and cloud databases and big data tools. Incumbents drive organizational analytics maturity by implementing best practices, hiring/developing talent, partnering with IT to advance data architecture and support data governance/accessibility, and strategize and organize analytics products to ensure consistent use and measures in all aspects of technical developing: data engineering, modeling and visualization.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location; subject to change per business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $ 132,000.00
Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $ 226,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Partners with various lines of business to drive intuitive and actionable business intelligence products. Provides strategic support by obtaining thorough understanding of data processes and definitions.
- Designs and implements data engineering and modeling framework to ensure consistent use and knowledge of data products.
- Directs the development of various analytics tools including new data structures and data visualization related to operational and performance metrics.
- Partners with LOB leadership and IT to define optimal predictive and prescriptive modeling techniques to support business strategy.
- Manages a highly technical team through effective recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Leads the documentation of various database queries, datasets, table structures, team processes, customer engagement models and strategic roadmaps.
- Automates existing manual or decentralized management reporting processes and products. Develops applications to supplement existing enterprise system functionality.
- Governs business operations transactional and business warehouse servers to ensure system uptime and information accessibility.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Econometrics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Statistics or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Leadership experience, 2 years
- 6+ years of job-related experience
- Knowledge of data visualization and analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Trifacta, Snowflake, etc.
Desired:
- Experience in Electric Utility
- Master’s Degree or PhD Computer Science, Information Systems, Econometrics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Statistics or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Agile Certification
- Scrum Master
- Utility industry or other job-related experience, 3 years
- Experience in project management
- Experience in data visualization (i.e. UI, UX)
- Experience with large scale data manipulation, database applications and scripted querying techniques (i.e. SQL)
- Knowledge of data visualization theory for design and implementation as needed to perform at the job level.
- Knowledge of data model design philosophies and methodologies for data warehouse and OLTP systems as needed to perform at the job level.
- Ability to solve simple and complex problems involving arithmetic as needed to perform at the job level.
- Knowledge of statistical theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and analyses as needed to perform at the job level.
- Ability to develop analytics models and dashboards as needed to perform at the job level.
- Knowledge of relevant programming languages – for example Visual Basic, C, Java, SQL, Python – as needed to perform at the job level.
- Competency in applying knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization goals.
- Competency in using compelling arguments to gain the support and commitment of others.
- Knowledge of Electric Operations operational practices and system configuration.
