PG&E’s Executive Protection Organization is part of the PG&E Security Organization and is committed to addressing the ever-changing landscape of cyber and physical security threats. The Executive Protection Department is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of high-profile individuals within the organization, including executives, Board members, and other key personnel. Through a combination of intelligence-driven risk assessments, threat monitoring, and strategic security measures, the team ensures a proactive and adaptive approach to executive safety. Focused on discretion and rapid response, the Executive Protection Department plays a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s leadership and maintaining business continuity.
Position Summary
The Executive Protection Operations Manager is a highly experienced and dedicated professional who will lead our Executive Protection Operations Team.
TheExecutive Protection Operations Manager will report to the Director of Executive Protection and will be responsible for the safety and security of our CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board of Director and other coworkers as required. You will lead a team of an EP Supervisor and 11 Executive Protection Officers consisting of a team of approximately 11 full and part time professional employees and additional contractors and vendors required for the program.
This role requires a strong leader with extensive experience in executive protection, residential security, and event security and a proven ability to build and manage high-performing teams. You will possess a comprehensive understanding of close protection operations, people management, officer development, executive communication, security threat assessment and incident response.
The position is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland, CA. You must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%, to support and manage the program as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with internal PG&E teams, including Cyber Security, Investigations and Security Operations teams and act as a liaison for law enforcement-based activities and engagement both on the State and Federal Level.
- Lead day-to-day executive protection operations, ensuring the safety and security of our CEO, Executive Leadership and Board of Director and other coworkers as required.
- Build and maintain standards, procedures and KPI’s that ensure repeatable and measurable performance outcomes.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop proactive security strategies to mitigate potential threats.
- Plan and coordinate secure travel arrangements, including itinerary development, advance security preparations, and on-the-ground support.
- Interview, hire and supervise executive protection team members.
- Manage a team of executive protection agents, providing leadership, guidance, and training to ensure operational excellence.
- Oversee the security of executive residences, implementing and maintaining robust security measures.
- Stay updated on standard methodologies and emerging security threats to proactively improve executive protection measures.
- Manage budget and contracts associated with the operations.

Compensation
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $122,000
Bay Area Midpoint: $158,000
Bay Area Maximum: $194,000
Qualifications
Minimum:
- 8 years of experience working with security control systems and security personnel, including security or law enforcement dispatch center operations
- Previous executive protection experience with a proven track record of leading high-profile protection programs.
- Previous leadership experience in leading and motivating high-performing teams.
- California Driver’s License
- Must be able to qualify for NERC/CIP clearance
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
- Prior experience with a federal, state, or local law enforcement agency is highly desirable.
- Regional or global executive protection experience overseeing fortune 500 organizations.
- Experience developing and managing security plans for various sized events.
- Experience with IRS Code 132 and tracking and compliance with IRS Code 132 independent assessments.
- Investigative experience is highly desirable.
- Analyze data from intelligence reports and evaluate for severity and nature of risk to senior executives and others. Develop and implement appropriate security response to address risk.
- Proven ability to apply sound judgment and use discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
Technical Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communications. Able to communicate with varied audiences. Comfortable and experienced interacting with senior executives with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Strong problem resolution and independent planning.
- Strong understanding of residential security principles and practices.
- Extensive experience in conducting threat assessments, risk mitigation, and security planning such as conducting site assessments, venue security planning and risk mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency in executive protection principles associated with travel, residential and event security.
- Expertise developing and implementing crisis response plans, including medical emergencies, evacuations, and active threat scenarios
- Leadership courage to identify security-related risks and share them with senior management.
- Familiarity with GPS tracking, CCTV, intrusion detection systems and communication technology.
- Knowledge of covert and overt surveillance tactics to detect potential threats.
- Ability to assess, analyze and mitigate risks using intelligence tools and methodologies
