Department Overview
The Supplier Quality organization supports risk-based quality management across the company and its supply base. The team partners with internal stakeholders and suppliers to strengthen quality systems, improve supplier performance, reduce risk, and ensure materials and equipment meet applicable contractual, technical, regulatory, and company requirements.
Position Summary
Provides expert-level support for supplier and internal quality management systems, risk-based supplier oversight, audit and assessment programs, supplier development, corrective action, governance, and continuous improvement.
Assignments may vary based on business need and may include leading audits or assessments, administering quality or supplier programs, drafting or updating internal processes, supporting supplier qualification, establishing governance and performance measures, or leading special quality and operational improvement initiatives.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business needs or company requirements. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.
PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and improves internal and supplier quality management systems, including related procedures, standards, tools, templates, controls, and program documentation.
- Uses risk, supplier performance, product criticality, process capability, maturity, past performance, and business impact to recommend the appropriate level and type of supplier quality oversight.
- Independently performs research using available data and inputs from SMEs and stakeholders to determine most critical focus areas for internal and supplier audits.
- Leads or supports supplier qualification reviews, quality management system audits, maturity assessments, readiness reviews, plant surveys, surveillance activities, and other risk-based evaluations.
- Evaluates whether supplier and internal quality processes are defined, consistently implemented, effectively governed, measured, and producing intended outcomes.
- Leads or supports supplier development, corrective action, and systemic improvement activities to address defects, audit findings, performance trends, recurring issues, and other risks.
- Verifies corrective action effectiveness through objective evidence, performance data, follow-up assessments, or other appropriate methods, including evaluating training effectiveness when training is part of the corrective action or improvement plan.
- Develops and applies supplier scoring, maturity, segmentation, risk-ranking, and performance measurement approaches to support qualification, oversight, development, resource allocation, and leadership decisions.
- Independently obtains, pulls, and reviews quality, corrective action, defect, supplier performance, operational, and audit data, and obtains input from appropriate subject matter experts, such as Standards Engineering, to identify trends, emerging risks, systemic issues, improvement opportunities, and areas requiring leadership attention; creates and drives action plans through to resolution.
- Establishes governance for supplier quality, audit, qualification, corrective action, quality management system, or continuous improvement programs, including roles, decision rights, escalation criteria, reporting expectations, and management review routines.
- Creates and implements Lean and continuous improvement solutions involving process mapping, waste elimination, problem solving, drafting and updating standard work and workflows, process controls, and performance management.
- Partners with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Materials, Supply Chain, Standards, Legal, Regulatory, suppliers, external auditors, consultants, and subject matter experts to address quality risks and improvement priorities.
- Communicates assessment results, systemic risks, performance trends, recommendations, and improvement priorities clearly to suppliers and various levels of management.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BS Engineering in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil/Industrial or equivalent experience
- Experience in auditing, or related, 7 years
- ASQ-American Society for Quality certification
- Ability to travel up to 50 percent of working time
Desired:
- Experience identifying improvement opportunities and translating findings into practical actions, measurable outcomes, or sustained process improvements.
- Ability to communicate complex quality, technical, operational, and business issues clearly to suppliers, internal stakeholders, and management.
- Ability to lead cross-functional work and influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Ability to travel to supplier or company locations as required.
Preferred
- Manufacturing, supplier quality, auditing, quality management system, or supplier development experience involving complex, engineered, critical, regulated, utility, or industrial products.
- Experience with ISO 9001 or other recognized management system standards, including audit planning, maturity evaluation, corrective action, effectiveness verification, and continuous improvement.
- ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer, Exemplar Global Lead Auditor, IRCA Lead Auditor, Lean Six Sigma certification, or equivalent training or experience.
- Experience developing or administering supplier qualification, segmentation, scoring, performance, risk-based oversight, governance, dashboards, analytics, or management review programs.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects involving quality, safety, risk, operational effectiveness, supplier performance, process improvement, or business transformation.
