Department Overview

The IT Energy Resilience and Growth department plays a critical role in enabling PG&E’s transition through a period of unprecedented demand growth while maintaining and improving grid reliability. The organization focuses on modernizing technology platforms that support Transmission, Distribution, and Substation Planning and Engineering, accelerating the connection of large electric loads, and integrating emerging energy demands in a safe, reliable, and compliant manner.

The department drives enterprise Continuous Monitoring capabilities that provide real-time visibility into the health and performance of PG&E's grid operations, assets, and critical monitoring and analytics platforms. Through advanced analytics, automated alerting, operational intelligence, and actionable dashboards, the organization enables proactive identification of risks and operational issues, supports faster outage detection and restoration, improves asset performance and maintenance effectiveness, and enhances overall grid reliability and resilience. These capabilities empower business and operational teams with timely insights that improve decision-making, strengthen regulatory compliance, and support the reliable delivery of electric service to customers.

The department partners closely with Electric Engineering, Transmission and Distribution Planning, Substation Engineering, Grid Operations, Asset Management, and enterprise IT functions to modernize legacy application landscapes, enable data-driven decision-making, and support long-term grid resilience as PG&E enters a sustained growth phase.


Position Summary

The Principal Owner Principal for Continuous Monitoring provides a clear vision and strategic direction for continuous monitoring products and capabilities. Defines and prioritizes product roadmaps, user stories, and backlogs to deliver business value while ensuring alignment with regulatory, operational, and risk management objectives. Maintains the technical integrity, quality, and performance of the products and features under the Product Owner’s

responsibility through ongoing monitoring, analysis, and continuous improvement. Focuses on end-user needs, operational insights, and measurable outcomes to drive adoption and effectiveness. Builds and maintains strong stakeholder relationships, acts as the customer proxy, and uses influence to navigate organizational complexities, align cross-functional teams, and drive successful product delivery.

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity,specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint $151,000 - $204,000. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.   


Bay Area Minimum: $ 151,000 

Bay Area Maximum: $ 257,000 

This position is hybrid, working from the employee’s remote office and our Oakland headquarters, based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identifies the developmental needs of others, and coaches and mentors others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Identifies the appropriate customer audience, their preferred communication channels, and potential customer response benchmarks.
  • Leads complex or major projects with high corporate or functional priority.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between various departments, stakeholders, business community, and lines of business.
  • Develops implementation plans and establishes teams to introduce new technology
  • Evaluates new products and equipment and keeps abreast of new products and/or equipment available in the market.
  • Provides product feedback and customer insight to support product development.
  • Partners with products organization to deliver feedback on existing products and introduce potential products for future programs.
  • Analyzes work plan and schedules to reallocate resources or reprioritize program work.
  • Develops new highly complex products.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • 7 years of Job-related experience


Desired:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner in an Agile environment.
  • Experience delivering products and solutions in the areas of Continuous Monitoring, Operational Analytics, Wildfire Mitigation, Risk Reduction, Grid Reliability, or Asset Management.
  • Experience partnering with operations, engineering, and business stakeholders to develop monitoring, alerting, and data-driven decision support capabilities.
  • Knowledge of utility operations, outage management, asset health monitoring, reliability improvement, or risk mitigation programs is highly desirable.
