Position Summary
Supervises a team of Engineering Assistants responsible for Substation Owners and Civil engineering support functions associated with the delivery of electric transmission and substation capital, maintenance, and compliance projects. Oversees the management of engineering drawing lifecycles, issuance processes, engineering records, project data quality, work management systems, engineering metrics, quality assurance activities, and process improvement initiatives. Ensures engineering deliverables, project data, schedules, and documentation are completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Serves as a key liaison between Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Maintenance, System Protection, System Automation, and external engineering service providers to support safe and efficient project execution.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
Bay Area Minimum: $114,000
Bay Area Mid:$148,000
Bay Area Maximum: $182,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
• Leads and supervises a team of Engineering Assistants responsible for engineering support activities associated with transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
• Oversees engineering drawing lifecycle management, including issuance, transmittals, as-built incorporation, drawing schedule updates, document control, engineering records management, and related engineering support processes.
• Ensures engineering documentation, project records, schedules, and data are accurate, complete, and entered into applicable company systems in accordance with established quality and compliance requirements.
• Monitors engineering support workload, productivity, customer commitments, and project milestones. Prioritizes work and allocates resources to support organizational objectives and project delivery schedules.
• Serves as an escalation point for complex engineering support issues, cross-functional process challenges, data quality concerns, and documentation discrepancies.
• Develops, implements, and continuously improves engineering support processes, procedures, standards, training materials, and work practices to increase efficiency, quality, and consistency.
• Establishes, tracks, and reports performance metrics related to engineering support activities, document processing, project support, quality, turnaround times, and compliance requirements.
• Oversees quality assurance and quality control programs associated with engineering support functions. Conducts audits and reviews to ensure adherence to company standards, engineering practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Partners with Engineering leadership to support project execution, contractor management, engineering data governance, resource planning, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Coordinates activities with internal business partners including Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Maintenance, Operations, System Protection, System Automation, Supply Chain, and external engineering service providers.
• Leads implementation of system enhancements, technology improvements, process changes, and organizational initiatives impacting engineering support operations.
• Builds and maintains positive labor-management relationships and ensures compliance with applicable labor agreements.
• Partners with management to establish departmental goals, performance expectations, and strategic priorities. Develops plans and initiatives to achieve desired business outcomes.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- Leadership experience, job-related, 5 years
Desired:
- Bachelors Degree in Geography or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience at PG&E, job-related
- GISP-Geographic Information Systems Professional certification
- ESRI-Enviornmental Systems Research Institute ArcGIS Desktop Professional Level certification
